Im a US citizen living in California and I want to start studying nursing but i have a huge dilemma and am hoping someone can give me some advice! My boyfriend is English and lives in the UK, and i will eventually move to the UK to be with him but i don't know if i should start my nursing program here in the states then move there or move there and study nursing there? If im not mistaking i would have to be a UK resident for 3 years before i can study nursing? Is the program hard to get into? also if i get my degree here is it easy to get a job in the UK as a nurse? So the ultimate question is do i study here then move to the UK or move there and study there?? please any help is much appreciated!!

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

If planning on returning to the US then better to train in the US. UK training is very specialized and you will be missing hours.

Specializes in ICU.

Especially nowadays. They do not send students to placements long enough to get the hours required. If I were you I would study in the US

I agree with you. Better to study in the US. UK nursing placements aren't that good.. they seem to include students as a substitute for lack of staffing and they just always have essays for requirement take note, essays. They do not have a comprehensive exam like NCLEX.. the type of nursing that UK has is like a CNA/LPN in the states.
