I agree with you. Better to study in the US. UK nursing placements aren't that good.. they seem to include students as a substitute for lack of staffing and they just always have essays for requirement take note, essays. They do not have a comprehensive exam like NCLEX.. the type of nursing that UK has is like a CNA/LPN in the states.

Hi. I am also a Filipino nurse living in TX. i am not familiar with Missouri BON requirements but you have to check first if they will require you to have a refresher course since you haven't practiced Nursing yet. It is a requirement in some BONs to have a nursing experience before they would allow you to sit for NCLEX. As for the dialysis nurse, companies like Fresenius and Davita will hire you even without dialysis experience but they would prefer somebody who has med surg/icu/clinic experience. I wish you well.

i think you should atleast process the endorsement first so you could have a temporary Texas license while applying. Technically, you could practice within 90 days using your KY license but most of the recruiters will verify if you have a TX license via TX BON website. Most of the job postings here have a TX license requirement.

I think you just mentioned the big difference between a registered nurse in the US and in the UK. Nursing in the UK is the like Licensed Practical Nurse in the USA. I know basic care is taught in nursing school but wiping patients's asses without mask??? SERIOUSLY?? you do not find anything wrong with that? I think it is just a matter of cultural difference. Nurses in the US are divided into RN, LPN, CNA, PCT. In the UK, YOU DO ALL THAT! Even kitchen stuffs...

Hi . I just read this too late. I worked as RN in the UK and now in the US. my husband is also in USAF. Although there Re more paid leaves in the UK , the salary is way too much lower than in the USA. Pkus the taxes in the UK is like triple than here (tax plus NI). Most notable difference is lack of autonomy in the UK. Nurses there are more overworked .. you have to wash the patient, change nappies without masks for god's sake, and clean the room. plus SERVE TEA. I was like a servant or barista. I prefer the USA more. Here, nurses are skilled.. and more scientific and hightech. Plus, you can easily have financial stability because of higher salary and lower taxes. UK always brag about "free NHS" but it is not free at all..just look how much percentage of their earnings go to the government. 30%?? Out of £23,000 band 5 nurse salary PER YEAR.

I worked as a RN in the UK but i am now in the US. to cut it short, you will do "hands on" in the uk like cleaning nappies without masks! Cleaning the room, serving tea. YES, THAT IS A REGISTERED NURSE. And you will lose your skill even as simple as documentation because they are simply narrating it.. doesnt matter if it is not medically appropriate words like HAPPY. Stethoscope isnt used regularly. Basically, RN job there is very limited to being like Florence Nightingale. There is more autonomy in the US and higher technology. This is the truth.. i tell you, no mask except for patients with PTB.

Hi! Definitely, cost of living in london is higher than in hertfordshire. But you will have an additional pay in london although you wont feel it because it will just go for your rent. Average dorm price in london is £600..it is just a room, mind you. I lived in hertfordshire almost a year ago and i worked there as RN. Now, i am in the US..

I think you should have continued your US application or maybe continue it while in the UK. By now, probably you already know what nursing in the UK really likes.. and I bet it is far from what you have imagined, right?
