I understand that California board of nursing won't give a license without SSN, does the same rule apply for License by Endorsement to california?

Thanks :)

As far as I am aware yes if you have no SSN then Ca will not accept applications. They will not issue a license without a SSN

I'm a Canadian Nurse and I applied for licensure and Nclex exam in California and as I got license without a SSN. I don't know why you wouldn't. In terms of getting a work visa, that is totally different.

As of June 2010 California will no longer accept applicatiosn without a SSN. Plus for several years they have not issued a license without a SSN just a letter confirming applicant meets requirements and had 3 years to provide a SSN before a license would be issued or file would be destroyed

I am a Canadian Nurse. I was issued a California RN license on June 2010 from licensure by examination meaning I took the NCLEX and got my license thereafter. On the application, I put down my Canadian SSN. On the application, it says that its mandatory to put a SSN, but it doesn't indicate anything specific in regards to international applicants. I would email the BON and ask them specifically.

Some people were able to get away with putting down another # other than a valid US ss#. Licenses were issued but if you contact the BRN they will tell you it has to be a valid US ss#. The BRNs need to make it very clear that a valid US ss# is required on the application. So there is no confusion even though it's obvious what is required.

I am surprised they accepted your Canadian SSN as usually they will only accept US SSN.
