My overseas friend says that NY and New Hampshire does NOT require a S/S#. But the new grad job market is worse than in CA in that the jobs are few and far in between and the hospitals are preferring to hiring US citizens first, to help reduce the unemployment rate of new nurses.
It's possible she said but don't place a lot of hope as hospitals in NY and NH have been doing lots of nursing layoffs, all facing lack of patients who can afford health care or even have any health insurance, Medicare reimbursements not paying as much or as well, budget cuts everywhere, terrible economy.
