Hi there I am looking for some help and information. I am a Registered General Nurse working in Scotland, UK with a BSc in Adult Nursing. I have been practicing for a year now. I have had no training and hold no qualification in Paediatrics (we have seperate degrees for working with babies and children). Would I need to be Paediatric trained as well as Adult trained to work as a Registered Nurse in the US? Also can anyone recommend any recruitment agencies for UK nurses?

Many thanks

The US is general trained so both clinical and theory hours will be required on your transcripts in paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult. Until you get sorted with registration of a state and pass NCLEX I wouldn't worry too much on finding an agency to help you with work or immigrant visa

Hi thanks for the reply. Can you recommend any agencies as Im just looking for further advice as mental health, paediatrics and adult nursing are all seperate degrees over here. Midwifery is also seperate. Id be looking into requirements to work in South Carolina

You can check the SC BON website as all info with be there but without clinical and theory hours in the areas I mentioned you will not meet RN requirements and be able to work as a nurse in the state

As SD says you will need theory and clinical hours in paeds, adult, OB and mental health to work in the US.
