Hello, i am about to undertake a three year paediatric nursing degree (registered nurse), i am applying for immigration after it is completed. I have contacted imigration and general nursing gives you 60 points, but paediatric nursing is not listed on the skills list, does anybody know if this is recognised and awarded the same points. thanx:roll

Hi, I am not an expert on this, but to be a paeds nurse in Oz you are usually a registered nurse first, then go on to do a grad cert or diploma in childrens nursing after.

The only specialisation where you can be registered nurse without being a registered nurse in the general field is registered nurse with restriction is midwifery after doing a B. of midwifery.

Psych, paeds, are all post, grad courses.

I think that immigration is after registered nurses and would probably love to have just paeds nurses but I don't think registration with nurses boards here as paeds nurse only is available - but as I stated I am no expert.

It may be as Registered nurse with restriction in paeds may be available.

Best to check out the sticky thread and follow the way to registration boards and the overall Australian nurses board. C

Hi, it´s my first visit here and I just read your message. I work as a registered Nurse in a Childrens Hospital in Austria. 2001 I got my paediatric nursing degree. Now I´m thinking about going to Australia for a year or two. It would be great if you could tell me whether you have found out more about the topic. Is it recognised and awarded the same points?
