Hi there,

I just graduated nursing (2nd courser) from the Philippines (not a local board passer). I am here now in Houston, Texas as dependent of my husband, I am holding E2 visa (working visa) same as what my husband's visa. I already have EAD (employment authorization document) from the USCIS and SSN. I am now eligible to work in the US, but I want to practice my 2nd profession (BSN) and work in the hospital for job security and tenure I could say.

Can you please tell me if Texas requires passing the CGFNS exam and Philippine board (NLE)? What course of action do I need to take aside from taking NCLEX? I am quite confused please advise what to do since my husband E2 visa is good for a certain years only though renewable but it is also depends on work load of his company.

You do not need CGFNS exam and I don't think you need NLE but do have to submit letter explaining that you didn't take the exam but you must declare it if you did.

You are required to go thru the CES process before Texas will permit you to sit for the exam. And if you are wishing to go for the green card, then you will also need to pass one of the English exams.

And for that, you will also need to get a Visa Screen Certificate.
