Indian nurse to us..

World International

Hi all...

I am an international nurse from india..,,recently I cleared my nclex and want some suggestions about how to get a job in us...

And also i heard of eb3 visa..any one who is already working on this visa,,please tell me the details and tell me how much time it will take to finish the processing...

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

EB3 = Employment based category 3 which is what most nurses come under. It is employer driven and currently waiting times for someone born in India is Jan 2003 which means applications received in Jan 2003 or before are being processed. This makes it harder to find a employer willing to wait that long for you

I am sorry...i am not getting you.,, did you mean that those who applied for eb3 visa are still under process..??????

What if i have an offer letter from the employer of us..???

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Letter of offer is irrelevant with regards to date of priority. They are processing those who were deemed eligible/have a priority date in 2003 or earlier.

In other words regardless of employer offer those seeking EB3 and born in India presently have a 10 year wait before their visa will begin processing.

Most employers will not hold a job for a year never mind 10 years. Many in the queue have had their petitions abandoned by their original employer due to the wait and current US economic environment

Then..how can i get a visa now....

Are you experienced (3-5 years or more) in a high demand specialty area such as OR, NICU, critical care, L&D etc ? Are you proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English. (Not all states require English proficiency exams as a condition of licensing but employers desire staff that have a strong command of the English language)

There is little demand in the US for inexperienced nurses. Some areas have unemployment rates of 40% or more for new/inexperienced nurses such as California.

Passing the NCLEX is but one small step in qualifying for a job in the US.

You can look at the USCIS website to see if you qualify for any other visa but as previously stated EB3 is the visa most nurses qualify for which presently is a 10 year wait due to retrogression.

Thank you for your reply...i will check it out
