hi! Im a recent nursing board passer in the Philippines and now working as a volunteer nurse in our area. My problem is the same with you guys... When I started studying nursing I found out that I was a hepa B carrier and non-infective. I was asymptomatic the whole time and never felt ill. I was devastated so I seek for my doctor's opinion if I should stop and find another course for myself. His advice was to continue because he had some patients who had the same case. He said that I could still work abroad and that physicians like him could give certificate stating that they(hepa b non-infectious carriers) are capable to work and non-infectious. So I asked him if there is a cure for being a carrier... sadly he said none for now. He also mentioned that there was a study that 10% of the carriers could turn out negative after 20 years or more if they had acquired it during their 20's. So I continued my nursing and finished my bachelor's degree. Now I'm a registered RN and volunteering. Still in the back of my mind... I kept asking myself how I got it??? Before I took up nursing I already had a family of my own... Knowing that I have the disease frightened me because I gave birth 2 years before I had the test. I was so worried that my son could be a carrier too and that I have infected my husband... I had them tested and the results were negative. It was a huge relief for me. I had them vaccinated asap. Until now, I still doubt if I can really work in USA... I'm afraid to pursue my nursing abroad because of my case even though I feel healthy as a cow... I hope somebody can give me insights... thanks!!!

hi there! It's been a while since i last visited this forum. My visa gto approved already for US, as expected, my medical got pending till now. I just sent my medical certificate to teh agency who will forward it to my employer in the US. I'm anxious about what they'll say and after everything i went through with the exams, experiences and embassy interview, that tehy will go into waste. I hope my employer will see me as more than just my hap B status, that i can be an asset in their company. Please pray guys, my doctor told me it will be okay but all i can do is pray and wait for my employer's decision'...thansk!

i wish you well that someday you can work in the US to support your family,
I also hope that the embassy will approve your visa regardless of your medical condition.
I'll pray for you.
