good day! this is my first to make a thread.:wink2: Is it possible for me to work in the U.S as a nurse without going thru an agency?I dont have a visa yet but I already passed the CGFNS and IELTS and will be taking the NCLEX this coming April. I have been looking up on different agencies here in the Philippines and I cant make up my mind yet. I read from the pass threads of the cons regarding having an agency to fix my papers. so does anyone know how to deal without an agency? Your reply is highly appreciated!
On my own experience when i was still in the philippines and in that same situation as yours, i asked the help of a relative here in California who knew of a hospital which directly hires nurses in the philippines(they dont go thru agencies), my aunt referred me to this hospital in Norwalk,CA and they just asked for my docs, tor, cgfns and ielts certificates etc, i wasnt an nclex passer at that time (this was in 04) but they said its ok i just have to take it when im already here and their lawyer was the one who constantly contacted me regarding other docs i need to submit, where i am in the petition process and everything. Aside from the hospital immigrant petition, my fiance at that time, now my husband also petitioned me thru fiance visa as a back up, but then the fiance visa came thru first so i decided to decline the hospital petition. Im speaking for California, i dont know about other states, yeah you can find a hospital to directly hire you without passing the nclex, when you come here you will be considered as a graduate nurse or Permitee awaiting to take nclex. This was in 2004, i dont know about recent times, immigration policies constantly change, but try to check, if you have relatives here ask for their help or you may contact hospitals via their website and inquire if they do direct hire for foreign nurses.
