just passed november 2009 board. are we required to attend the oathtaking ceremony?

No. You are not required to attend the ceremony. But it feels good to do the ceremony thing.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys. I won't be attending the ceremony, gotta save up on BLS and IVT, and the long, arduous task of getting a job. Thanks again.

so the bottom line here is: not attending the oath taking ceremony would not affect your license issuance? (is this absolutely true? like freshpasser, i'm planning to save and avoid the hassle of attending such ceremonies...)

Actually it's required.. Before I went here in the US I passed my boards in Phils, but my flight was the same day i was suppose to take the oath. They said that if you can not join the ceremony what you can do is go to a judge and let him/her notarized the oathtaking paper that you have with you.. In my case they requird me to do it so I took an oath with one of the people who made the exam of June 2008 board, its a little bit dramatic on my part coz they asked me weird questions regarding my license.. shhheeeessshhh ,,,
