What does "relational knowledge" mean?

thank you in advance

Sometimes there is no point in asking "why". Just accept that it is what it is.

Knit Pick, I know, but it's REPLY not replay.

The stages of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation are linked and circular,as shown the visual image in the document. There is overlap of the stages and interconnection between stages, you start with assessment, move to planning, then implementation and evaluation, but you also often move back to assessment and planning, after you start implementing and realize you need to adapt and adjust.

In the example of teaching a UCP based on assessment of learning need. I put the emphasis on the stem of the statement because that part is planning, don't put the emphasis on teaching. Keep in mind, in order to effectively teach adult learners, the teacher needs to assess prior knowledge first.

i liked your reply and thank you. it must be hard to read all this and i appreciate your help. though it supposed to be simple.

just let me point out one thing.

http://www.fastmarketingplan.com/tips/how-to-use-sentence-stems-to-solve-problem-achieve-your-goals.php

"a sentence stem is a partially complete sentence. it contains your desired outcome... but leaves blank your method for achieving it. here are three examples...

"i'd be more productive today if i...."

"i could conquer procrastination by..."

"eating healthier would be easier if i..."

so the stem here will be

teaching a ucp

i hope that my assessors think the same way as you do and they will not think about the stem as i do.

i mast admit i do not let things go easily, sorry for that

gould you please as well comment on the question i asked earlier

i definitively see collaboration in your example but what about relational knowledge? which part is "relational knowledge" here?

by the way competency number 74 speaks about "relational practice"

whereas competency number 80 speaks about "relational knowledge"

Back to your original question, I believe "relational knowledge" means using your knowledge of the patient through your relationship with him/her to promote health. Similar to relational practice.

For instance, in Dishes' example, through the nurse-patient relationship, the nurse discovered the patient-family's inability to cope with the pain. So the nurse used that knowledge to advocate to the surgeon. Relational practice and relational knowledge essentially stem from the idea that you are using your relationship with the patient as a guide to your nursing process.

It's a fluffy concept that is familiar to Canadian grads but I'm not surprised that IENs are left wondering what the hell it means.

I hope that was helpful. Good luck with your application :)

thank you this is really good answer, I even do not have any questions to ask since you covered all I needed.

I am surprised though that so few people could comment on the nitty gritty of nursing

Hi there,is there anybody in Brampton that is taking the cas for RPN or who have taken the cas to help me through it.I really do not know how to go about it.

Hi magnoliya. Can pls send me your personal number if you dont mind. I just want to ask regarding also CAS. Cno also send me the letter that I need to write CAS. I m confusing and dont know if I am in a good track doing my CAS. THANKS. Really appreciate it. Luisa here

Hi magnoliya! I just want to ask question hope you dont mind to help. I m starting to write my CAS and while doing this i m still confusing if do I need to write the example in each # of competency or do I just only need to choose one competency # in assessment, one in planning one in iplementation and also in evaluation. Then co related to the sample experience. Am I in the right track doing my CAS? PLS help me. Thanks. Luisa

what is "Cas"?

how many competencies do you have ? a lot! it is not doable to give an example for each and every competency. it is just too much work. too many competencies.

i would think that maybe you should choose one competency # in assessment, one in planning one in implementation and also in evaluation

however what is your task? do not you have a specific task to do? what does it say on your exam list that you need to do?

They just only said I just only need to write a sample based on my working experience. CAS means competency assessment supplement. Do you have personal contact # so that we can talk about that. If you dont mind. Really needs help. Thanks luisa

luisa i cannot talk. but i want to help

i can write

i know how you feel. nothing make sense because nobody cared to explain to you what to do. it happened to me too. i was very frustrated.

my advice to you do not overthink it. because they gave you very unclear task, they do not expect a clear answer from you. just do not overthink it and do not stress out.

they really like when nurses provide "the continuation of care"

so my advice to you find a situation where you addressed all 4 stages of nursing process. you met a client you collected information you planed, you implemented, you evaluated.

when you write about each of the stages mention "this particular stage is related to a particular competency" and then say which competency and why

as long as your story makes sense, as long as it is touchy feely, they will approve it

i think you ask these questions because you ,like myself, like exact answers. but people who right these questions ,they are completely different people. so do not even try to find exact answers.

ask me more questions if you need to
