Canadian RN wanting to work in California

Hi!

I've been lurking threads with the exact same question as mine since I first entered a compressed nursing program 2 years ago, and I've been accumulating information since then. However, I can see that the answers have become slightly outdated since we Canadians are now taking the NCLEX. (Most of the threads I found dated back to '09.)

Since I'm entering my consolidation in Fall, and will be taking the NCLEX in January, I wanted to start the prep in advance. Has anybody had recent experience/insight in nursing in California from Canada? Since we now have the NCLEX, is it easier to get a California license or a SSN? I know Licensure by Endorsement was a popular topic, but most RNs did it in places like MN and then applied to California, but I saw on the Board of Registered Nurses for California that:

To qualify for endorsement (reciprocity) into California as an RN, you must hold a current and active RN license in another U.S. state or Canada...

Is this new? I feel like the whole plan I have has been altered by the availability of the NCLEX in Canada! Any help/advice would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

CA will still require a U.S. sSN before accepting your application and will still do their own assessment of your transcripts and decided whether endorsement will be allowed
