Applying For Rn License In Ca; Still Waiting On Att; Any Help?

I am a RN from Germany with 15 years experience. Received my education, etc. in Germany. Recently I received my Green Card. I am in the US. I applied for the RN Licensure by Exam mid April. Did not receive any letter from CA Board of RN. They did cash my check in April (assuming they are working on my file)

Anybody knows the time frame for their processing an application?

Also, was I supposed to receive any letter confirming they received my application?

I sent them an email one week ago, but no response from them.

Will it help if I call?

I recieved confirmation that CA BON recieved my application 2 months after I mailed with the $107 payment. Then after 4 months I recieved another letter stating that I am eligible to seat for NCLEX for CA BON and instructing me to pay additional $200 for the exam.Two days after paying I recieved confirmation of my payment via email and asking me to register at PEARSON VUE for my test date. By the way, the first time I paid the $200 thru check, with my application form, it got lost. I call them and instructed me to pay using credit card. So better to call them if they lost your application/eligility form. I hope this help you. zuriel

Hi Monica:

Yeah Zuriel is right it takes about 4 to 6 months before they evaluate your credentials and decide if you are eligible.

With foreign training, it is minimum of four months, usually closer to six in most cases, and even longer if they are not familiar with the program that you were in.

There is nothing that they will be able to tell you at this point..........You need to give them at least four months before even attempting to contact them. They do their own credentials review, etc.

Just sit tight....................I know that isn't what you want to hear. Sorry.

That's an interesting thread.

Does anybody know, what exactly the curriculum from foreign schools of nursing should contain that California Board of RN is asking for?

I know, they send out examples, but following their guidelines, the curriculum would contain dozens of pages, which would be incredibly expensive to have translated... :o

Any suggestions concerning minimum requirements?

A complete set of transcripts is all that is needed. California does their own credentials evaluation where some other states use a process available thru CGFNS. You are responsible for having the transcripts translated into English by a certified translator.

Simple as that. :)

I am still somewhat curious, though, if I will have to provide additional information like a friend of mine, who just received a temporary license.

She was asked to send in a curriculum, as she was the first nurse from her nursing school in Germany, who applied for licensure by endorsement in California. It seems kind of odd to me, because she already holds an RN license in another US state plus the CGFNS certificate.

This is from http://www.rn.ca.gov/lic/pdf/end_app_2003.pdf:

In many cases, the Board must obtain additional information from the school in order to clarify course content and/or curriculum requirements. We may also request clarification for the amount of theory and clinical training completed. Also, additional information is required if the applicant is the first graduate from their school of nursing to apply for California licensure. The

schools curriculum, catalogs and/or other documents may be requested to evaluate the programs content (these items are in addition to the individuals nursing transcripts.)

They still require transcripts from your nursing school, no matter where you graduated from.

I have a CA license now and had to submit transcripts from my nursing program and I graduated a very long time ago. It is a strict ruling of CA BRN.

They do their own credentials evaluation...........

Sorry, but no way around that one. They will not issue the hard license until they have the transcripts in their hands. :)
