I"m looking for references on nurisng staff cleaning soiled linen on the floor before sending it down to laundry.

The nursing staff is currenlty rinsing soiled linen in the hopper and then sending it to laundry.

Thanks

sheesh-good luck with that....It's been YEARS since I have had to do that and I would NOT do it now.If you consider universal precautions the staff should gown, glove and mask prior to swishing and splashing grossly soiled linens....We put that type of stuff in those meltaway bags after wrapping the wet stuff up in the dry stuff...We tend to use disposable liners and attends whenever a resident is on the lax list -that also cuts down on those problems....The laundry staff wears gloves and we will give them a heads up if we are sending a big bag o' crap and they'll do a small load and run it twice if needed.....I remember working as an aide before CHUX pads and attends and universal precautions.....-we had to rinse the cloth pads in the hopper and scrub the solids off with a toilet brush....The laundry would send stuff back to the floor if they felt it was still too soiled....I clearly remember getting splashed in the face frequently.... :stone .....
