Moving to Vincennes area

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

Howdy Hoosiers. I am relocating ( don't ask why please ) from the East Coast to the Vincennes area in southwestern Indiana early next year. With 10 years experience as an RN in Acute Care, Home Health Care, and currently 2 years of Hospice I would like to know what jobs and pay are available in this area. I guess I'll have to travel to Evansville to find work, but one never knows. I would appreciate any replies. Thanks

Hello!

I was born and raised and went to nursing school in Vincennes. I'm an LPN so I'm not sure of the pay rates for RN's. I used to work for Good Samaritan Home Care and liked it okay. From what I know, they are better paid than the hospital RN's. Unfortunately, Good Samaritan Hospital isn't really up to date as far as pay goes with the rest of the competition. If you want to go to a hospital, I would recommend going to E'ville for the better pay. I know this probably isn't good news to hear, but Knox County isn't very good as far as pay goes. Maybe someday they'll catch up to the rest of the world. :) Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck in whatever you do!

I live in Vincennes. The hospital pays about $20.00 hr with benefits. Also, 10% diff for nights and weekends.

I don't work there because I can't stand the 'cliquiness' of the employees. I work at Washington Nursing Center and make 18.30 an hr.

If you do decide to apply stay away from the Rehab Unit. it is not under the DON but is under the VP of Nursing. The DON doesn't concider this unit to be part of the hospital even though it is under the same roof.

E'ville or Terre haute, both an hr away will be ur best bets unless you can live on less. Housing in Knox county is cheap and so is renting. I suggest that you move to the South Knox school district. Much better that Vincennes.

Failure is NOT an option!!

I absolutely agree with the South Knox suggestion. I went 2 years to Vincennes and finished out at South Knox. I wish I had gone there long before I did. Good luck in whatever you wish to do! :)
