Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter

U.S.A. Indiana

I've been reading "allnurses" for several years, never thinking I'd reach this point. So, I never registered. However, after 2-years of night classes the dream of nursing might become a reality. Now, the wait for acceptance/denial begins. It's all come to this point for many of us.

Several years ago there was a forum where people were waiting on THE letter. Why not have one for the folks waiting on 2011? If there IS one I missed it.

We're all in the same boat, all waiting on the letter, and wondering if there was a minor detail overlooked. Was the score high enough? Did my transcript fall through the folder, then get swept under the desk? (That one woke me up last night) In my case, my brain can handle the wait...my stomach/intestines are not doing so well.

Thought this might be a nice thread to vent, support, and otherwise worry with each other for the next couple of months. Near as I can tell, it's going to be 74 days, give or take, before we all know....one way or the other.

Best of luck and keep prayin' I know I am! :)

So I did not get into Lafayette as an alternate. I spoke with Deb Dye today and she infomred me that I am next on the list. If anyone does not complete Math 136 with a C or better or decides not to go forward with the program I will be called. I finished with 161.5.

Faypha....I've not checked the message boards in a week. It's odd....when I was waiting, I checked 3x a day. Finally had "board burn-out." :)

Well, I never did hear from Indy after their rejection letter. Kokomo sent a rejection, then called last week. Said I was IN their program! However, after a lot of thought...and even more prayers...I turned it down. Hard to believe, eh? I didn't completely think out the cost/time of driving when I applied to Kokomo. (about 75 minutes one way)

I'm still on the East-Central Alternate list...depending on the campus, all within 1/2 to 3/4 hours from the house.

If East-Central works out, then I'm in. (I still have a funny feeling it will work out.) If not, well I'll take the promotion at work (they know about school and are waiting, too), study the heck out of the TEAS materials, and reapply/take Microbiology in the spring. I've been galloping along, and honestly, it's kinda nice to not have classes this summer...

My wife told me something the other night that is worth sharing. She said, "no matter what happens...school has restored your confidence in yourself." She's right. You can't have rocks in your head and get the grades we've all had to attain. It's a good feeling....that alone was worth the ride. Well, almost...

@ Faypha

I've been reading some of your posts, and hopefully I'm not overstepping any boundaries by asking you this, but have you tried getting into any of the BSN programs in the state? I mean, I'm just asking because if I remember correctly, you have all A's in your prereqs. And from what I've seen and heard, for most BSN programs grades + interview/application are the main determinants for entrance. So, it may end up working out better for you...?

Ha. That would be great if I wasn't a bit of a slacker in my undergrad days! This was my best shot without retaking some classes. I had lots of C's! Thank you though!

Well, actually I wouldn't be so sure about that. If you try getting into a program that's not within the same system you were in when you were in your undergrad, the selection committee might overlook those non-prereq grades. I say that because when you transfer between universities/colleges that aren't within the same system (i.e. going from IUPUI to Ball State) only the transferable credits you took at the other colleges will transfer, not the actual grades (again, unless the grades are from prereqs). If you haven't already, maybe calling around to some of the BSN programs would be very beneficial for finding out? I don't know, I'm just trying to be helpful--possibly overly so lol. Whatever you decide though, I wish you the best! :)

I made it into Greencastle's LPN program but hope to hear from Terre Haute in the next day or two to see if I made ASN! Wow!!!

GOT the CALL....I'm in the ASN program for East-Central Region!!!

:clpty::clpty::clpty::clpty:

Can't tell you how long I've wanted to use the "party people" button!

I don't know if it's Anderson or Muncie, but I feel so blessed today! Meeting with friends again next week who just finished the first year....and the orientation meeting is on the 8th.

Faypha...I'm still pulling for you. I'll keep a prayer you can push the "party people" button soon!

Hey RhubarbJ guess who will be in the ASN program with you at Anderson! That's right ME!!!!!!Can you believe it?! Wasn't even thinking about Anderson and thought it was Lafayette or nothing! My orientation is July 8th!

:yeah: Congratulations!! I am so happy for you!!! I had my orientation at lafayette campus today. I am getting very excited and nervous. Hope all goes well at your orientation!

Faypha....THAT'S GREAT news!!! Can't believe after all this time and all the posting, we're going to be in the same program! I'm SO happy for you. Wow!

Oh, at the orientation meeting say "hi." I'll be the guy with rugged good looks, chiseled features, flowing dark hair.....ok, how about the 40ish married guy who needs to work out more and looks scared to death! THAT will be me!

Hopeful-One...thanks for the congrats. It STILL seems like a dream...

:yeah: Congratulations!! I am so happy for you!!! I had my orientation at lafayette campus today. I am getting very excited and nervous. Hope all goes well at your orientation!

Thank you so much! It is funny though. I was thinking that maybe I might possibly get a call from Lafayette today, as I am the very next one on the list, and when I got a call from Anderson I about died! I must have said "oh my God" twenty times! That lady probably thought WTHeck! Anderson and Lafayette are about the same distance from my house so I am gratefulk and thankful and blessed for either/or!

Rhubarb J! I totally will! Cannot wait to meet you! When the lady called me today she told me I would be at the Anderson campus. Hopefully you will be also. Looking forward to the 8th!
