Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

I've been reading "allnurses" for several years, never thinking I'd reach this point. So, I never registered. However, after 2-years of night classes the dream of nursing might become a reality. Now, the wait for acceptance/denial begins. It's all come to this point for many of us.

Several years ago there was a forum where people were waiting on THE letter. Why not have one for the folks waiting on 2011? If there IS one I missed it.

We're all in the same boat, all waiting on the letter, and wondering if there was a minor detail overlooked. Was the score high enough? Did my transcript fall through the folder, then get swept under the desk? (That one woke me up last night) In my case, my brain can handle the wait...my stomach/intestines are not doing so well.

Thought this might be a nice thread to vent, support, and otherwise worry with each other for the next couple of months. Near as I can tell, it's going to be 74 days, give or take, before we all know....one way or the other.

Best of luck and keep prayin' I know I am! :)

Where at Momma Fields? and Congrats!

Thanks, Faypha! In Columbus. (I am the same one that posted on the Ivy Tech board under nurse_in_the_works, lol) :lol2:

Ha! I realized that after the fact. I am patiently waiting until June 20th to see if my phone rings from Lafayette!

Hello all you prospective nursing students! I've been out of the loop for a while and after reading all of your posts, I didn't realize getting into a nursing program was so competitive. This test that all of you had to take, what do all of the letters mean?

Thanks,

Rhonda:)

It's the Test of Essential Academic Skills. (For me, it was like a shortened version of the SAT or ACT.)

So Deb Dye just called me and offered me a spot!!! So all you alternates keep your ears open!! Good luck! BTW I was #5 on the list.

Terre Haute letters won't go out until NEXT week now!..................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RhubabrJ if you are out there...There has been a lot of movement. Wandering if you have got the word yet? Hope you are in somewhere!

I had a 164.8, was denied at first. Got a call from Indy last week. I'm IN!!! Thank YOU to all who turned down their spots, lol. Good luck to everyone!! We ARE going to be nurses woooo hooooooo :yeah:

PS..thought I would add to my last post....I had received a denial letter from Indy. I knew I had been VERY close to the cut off because I saw someone on a thread who had 1.7 points more than I had, and she got in. I was SOOO bummed that I didn't get in. I pouted for a week and got over it. Just as I did, I had a voicemail from Angie at Indy asking if I would like to accept a spot in the fall ASN program. OF COURSE I accepted. She mentioned that "ten" spots had opened up. I'm not sure how or why. She also said there were no alternates notified in the letters this semester but as spots become available, they were filling them. I am SO thankful and I am saying a prayer for all of you who didn't make it. I know how bad it hurts after working your BUTT off for so long. I can't wait for orientation this week. I feel like such a nerd, but I can't wait for school to start, lol. I'm excited!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! I hope to gain a lot of friendships on this journey. We all have to stick together. WE CAN DO THIS! :nurse:

PS If there are any nursing students reading these posts that have any suggestions/experiences, please feel free to share them!

One of those Indy spots was mine :) Congrats and I am so happy for you!! What a rollercoaster of emotion!

No kidding!! I was SOOOO bummed about not getting in. I knew I was so close! Must mean we were meant to be ;) LOL Can't wait to meet you all on Tuesday!
