Need help figuring out the paperwork for IL license endorsement/temp permit

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I live in IL, but went to school in St.Louis and i got my license for MO thinking that i would find a job right away. Well i graduated in May and still haven't found a job so it's time to widen my prospects and want to get my IL license as well. I figure as a new grad if i have to take a job i don't really want it might as well be in IL so i don't have to deal with crossing the bridge and traffic everyday. I've looked at the application and for the most part i've got it filled out. There are just a few questions that are stopping me from finishing and turning in the application. (I know my best bet at answering these questions are to get in contact with the IL board but every time i call i get the automated message saying that they are busy and to try again later. I've been working on this application for a couple months now and really would love to get it done so i can finally get a job)

My questions;

1. Can apply for a temporary license and endorsement at the same time? So can i turn in one application and just make sure i have everything else i need for each thing and be ok? Or do i need to send them in separately?

2.I don't currently have a job and haven't worked as a nurse so do i need to include the verification of employment/experience (VE) form?

3. For the CT-NUR form since I'm licensed in MO and they use nursys I don't need to complete this form right? I just need to go to the site and follow the instructions there?

4. Do i need to fill out the Health Care Workers Charged with or Convicted of Criminal Acts(CCA)? I feel like this answer is no because i haven't been charged or convicted but just want to make sure.

5. For the background check is all i have to do is get finger printed and they will do the back ground check based on that? Probably another duh question but just want to make sure.

I appreciate any help, it's been a nice break but i'm ready to finally get this finished and so i can start applying.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I was educated in MO, got a job in a small rural hospital on the river in NE MO, and now want to practice in IL where I actually live. I am in the process of submitting the IL RN endorsement app as well.

1. Can apply for a temporary license and endorsement at the same time? So can i turn in one application and just make sure i have everything else i need for each thing and be ok? Or do i need to send them in separately?

I think you can apply for both at the same time. It's $50 for the license and $25 for the temp, but I think the idea is to apply for your temp wheile your license is going thru. Apparently, IL takes A LONG time to get their stuff together. Figures, the whole state is run by a bunch of Mafia crooks.

2.I don't currently have a job and haven't worked as a nurse so do i need to include the verification of employment/experience (VE) form?

I wouldn't think you could include a VE if you haven't had a job

3. For the CT-NUR form since I'm licensed in MO and they use nursys I don't need to complete this form right? I just need to go to the site and follow the instructions there?

You have to use Nursys for verification, not CT-NUR. It's like $30 for Nursys verification

4. Do i need to fill out the Health Care Workers Charged with or Convicted of Criminal Acts(CCA)? I feel like this answer is no because i haven't been charged or convicted but just want to make sure.

Yes, everyone has to fill out a CCA

5. For the background check is all i have to do is get finger printed and they will do the back ground check based on that? Probably another duh question but just want to make sure.

I think that is the case. I haven't set up my prints yet.

Thank you for your help. They should really have better instructions since it's so hard to actually get in touch with someone. Good luck with your application.

I just went through this process. You can apply for the temporary license and endorsement at the same time. I did, but did not receive a temp license. You do not need to include the VE form. If you can verify your license through the nursys site, you have to do it that way and do not need to complete the CT-NUR form. I was under the impression everyone had to fill out the form for criminal convictions. And yes, when you get finger printed, they use that to do your back ground check. Completing the application for endorsement was really time consumer and I agree that their instructions weren't very clear. Hope the process goes smoothly for you!

thank you!!!!

how long did it take for you to get your endorsement?

I think it took about 5 weeks.

Do you need an actual hard copy of your license to apply for endorsement?? I just became licensed in MO and have not received the physical license and shouldn't for about 6-8wks they said.
