Wright College offers a Practical Nursing program through the Humboldt Park Vocational Center in Chicago. The program is offered twice per year and will be enrolling new students for the January class in September. Financial aid is available if you qualify. Day and evening classes are offered. You can learn more here:

Kennedy King offers the same through Dawson Technical Institute on the south side of the city.

Thank you both for your research and replies... Yes I am aware of MOrton and am looking into it...and Pccti I had a consultation with them on Friday.

I am still deciding on which route to go only because of the cost between the two schools are different and so is the class schedules.

Thank you for letting me knowing that there is help out there.:):wink2:

Does anyone know of a LPN Program in the Skokie/Glenview area? I am currently taking classes at Oakton and was going to pursue my Associates in Nursing but I now hear that maybe going for the LPN program is better?? Thanks.

I recently contacted Oakton to see if they had a joint agreement with Harper College for an LPN program and the was told that you can enroll in the RN program at Oakton and test at the 1 year mark for the LPN exam. You should contact Oakton for more information.

is financial aid available?

Financial aid is available in all Community Colleges and Oakton is one of them.

As far as I know, in that area (Northern Suburbs) there are few private LPN schools.

- Americare Technical School ; 6201 West Touhy Avenue Chicago, IL 60646 (847) 296 8773

- International Career Institute; 6425 N. Hamlin Ave. Lincolnwood, IL 60712 (847) 929 6129

- Omega Healthcare Technical School; 400 W. Higgins, Park Ridge, IL 60068 (847) 425-9089

I am a student at Americare Institute (which is different from Americare Technical School) and we also have financial aid. The school has two locations, one in Schaumburg and the other in Hanover Park. Right now the school offers the L.P.N but I have heard that the school is going to be getting an R.N. Associates Degree Program soon. It is a really good school and the cost is very reasonable too. The main office phone number is 847-397-0300 if anyone has any questions. Hope this information is helpful :)

Would You tell us the prices in Americare Institute? :)

Since I have financial aid, I only had to put down a deposit of $125. I researched a bunch of other schools around the area and found that most of them had a deposit of anywhere from $1,000 to $7,000. Not only do I receive financial aid but I also qualified for the Pell Grant, so over half of my tuition is covered so I only have to pay a few thousand dollars instead of $20,000 like the majority of schools require :yeah:

Misspeachy, does Americare Institute also accept the WIA grant or any other type of academic scholarships even though you're already receiving PELL grant and federal student loans?
