Male Chiropractor considering nursing...advice please :)
How did you find a place to do clinicals? Does it have to be in a hospital? The program in Texas is on probation for insufficient NCLEX pass rates. So I'm glad I didn't go that route. My commute would be about 4 hours too as I am in the North Shore.

Any chiropractors in the WGU program?
Thanks for your replies. It's good to know I can speedily retake or test out of the courses. I set a meeting with my enrollment counselor, so I'll see what the next step is.

Any chiropractors in the WGU program?
Hello , I am a chiropractor in the initial phases of applying to the pre-nursing WGU program in Indiana. My transcripts have been recently evaluated and Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology were found to be lacking. I have taken these courses as part of the module system at the National University of Health Sciences, so they do not appear as individual classes. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how would you suggest I proceed? I can CLEP out of the courses, but I'd rather not since I have taken the courses and even taught Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology at a Junior College since graduating chiro school. Thanks for your help. Arnetra

DC4NOW, Can you share more about your clinicals and labs? I contacted the school and they discouraged applying to the program if you are more than 60 miles away from the clinical sites. Are labs and clinicals scheduled at the same time each week? The program in Texas requires you to travel to the clinical sites in Texas once a month for 3 days. Thanks,

Two docs I know had to find their own clinical rotations, but had previous relationships with MDs. I don't know the cost, but to get more information, I reached out to the admissions office and asked if they had any students in the program willing to speak to perspective students who have questions. They had a list of emails of docs in the area that were willing to talk. To find out about accreditation, I would call the state and and national nursing associations.

Thanks for the feedback. Have you had any feedback from people that are students at the Institute of Healthcare Professions? Other boards say that the program is not yet nationally accredited, which would be a problem for me practicing in Illinois.

Do anticipate any problem finding a preceptor? Also, will you need to have a relationship with an MD to practice as an NP? Thanks for your reply!

Chiropractor to FNP
Has anyone started or finished the Midwest program at WB? If so, are you going to work as an RN first or start the NP program? Is there any truth to the rumors of NP requiring a doctorate by 2015? Thanks,

dc4now, Have you started the WBU program? I plan to apply for the March start. After contacting Midamerica Learning, they put me in contact with other chirps in my area that graduated from the program. The information they gave was very helpful. They stated that it was a LOT of studying, but well worth it. Some advice given was to work with other chiros in the program in studying and preparing for exams and clinicals. It was also suggested that you study from NCLEX prep book while in program.

Chiropractor to FNP
Hello, There are a number of ways to begin your road to NP. Are you in Indiana? If so, I would call the local community colleges (CC) and 4 year universities to get the requirements for RN or Associates Nursing degree. In the chicago metro area, most colleges require that all science courses be taken within 5 years of applying for nursing school/nursing degree. I have a friend in Ohio who was able to begin nursing school without having to retake science classes. There is also a program for chiropractors to become nurse practitioners through MidAmerica Learning. Read through this thread, I know the information for MidAmerica Learning is posted. Call around and post what you find. I hope this helps.

Calling all Truman College Nursing Students
Hello, I am applying to Truman and was wondering can you explain what is Block 1, Block 2, etc. of classes. Does this mean that all block 1 classes have to be taken together at the times listed?
