LPN Private Schools?

Can someone please tell me all the private LPN schools in the Chicagoland area?

I don't want to wait a few years on a waiting list.

  • PCCTI
  • American Institute
  • J'Renee Facility
  • Northwestern Institute of Health

Of course You can bridge with all these schools. When you ask about bridging, other school look your license (NCLEX-PN), they don't care much about school.

St Xavier will accept you, and I made inquiry at Excelsior college in Albany, NY and they only care about NCLEX - they even didn't ask about school.

Hi Chris NS, I responded before about NLNAC accreditation. Although it is voluntary for colleges to enroll with the National League of Nursing Accreditation Council, many colleges or employers will not accept or hire you if you come from a school not accredited by the NLNAC. So your courses may or may not transfer to other colleges or universities besides St. Xavier. And just fyi, yiu have to take 12 credit hour courses with St. Xavier, and there is a long waiting list to get into their program, 2013 - 2014, CMK Health Care is not accredited by the NLNAC. It sucks, but it is what it is.

CMK Healthcares LPN program is still new, before a facility can be accredited, they would have to be offering the program that is to be accredited for a minimum of 1-2 years before being considered for acreditation. Once accredited they can then opt to offer grants.

The part where you stated that employers looks for accreditation is false. All employers look into is that you have a state certified license and that is the most important thing

In addition to accreditation, teh only thing that accreditation agencies want is that you pay the accrediting fee which normally adds up to $50-75000

Hello Myk4408, I'm stating what was told to me numerous times by the NLNAC and potential jobs, registered nurses I know, and a few colleges. I'm just letting Chris NS know what s/he might run into -just to inform him/her. Personally, I'm going to apply at a few schools that aren't accredited -so I'm going to take my chances. But, there are times, just for the heck of it, I'll look up job listings for registered nurses or LPNs, and some list as a requirement, 'must have graduated from an accredited NLNAC program....and submit college transcripts.' So, my statement is not false. I stated SOME not all. I certainly hope that accreditation doesn't matter to employers or colleges (when seeking to advance your nursing career). I wish everyone the best!:)

Why would you "take a chance" and attend a program that is not accredited? Are you that desperate to become a nurse? I understand you want to become a nurse, but is it worth the money, time, and hard work you WILL have to put in? Majority of hospitals, nursing homes, etc WILL want to know where you received your degree from. You can trust and believe if that program is not accredited, you will not be offered a job. If you decide to further your education, you will find it difficult to do so because those classes/credits will not transfer.

Would you hire a doctor who went to a non-accredited medical school, even though he has a license? I think not. Just because you received, your license DOES NOT GUARNTEE you will be employed as a nurse. Take your time and find an accredited program, please.

Hello AstonC, and thank you for your concern. I've been doing prereqs for some years now, classes will be expiring, and the college I was referring to was Malcolm X. They lost their accreditation, but are officially candidates. Other colleges are out of my district. I would have to convince my potential employers that NLNAC isn't mandatory for colleges or universities to be accredited. It's the academic equivalent of the Better Business Bureau -businesses pay the BBB to make their business look good. If a consumer complains to the BBB of bad customer service, the business is sanctioned. The same concept applies with the NLNAC, schools pay them to look good, basically. And I've heard this explanation from quite a few nursing department chairs. Don't kill me, I'm just the messenger lol.

i understand. ok, here goes..... i don't know if you've heard of chamberlain college of nursing. it's a new bsn nursing program that takes 3 years to complete. there are no prerequisites because you would complete them once in the program. there are 2 locations: one in chicago, and the other in addison illinois (i dont know which location would be convenient for you). since you have your prerequisites completed, you might be able to get in and only have to do your nursing classes. the application deadline is november 15 to start classes in feb 2011. the campus in addison is accredited, but the one in chicago is seeking candidacy because it is still new. now as far as tuition...... it's a for-profit-school, so the tuition will be higher. the website is chamberlain college of nursing. maybe this will help :).

Hello again AstonC, I've already interviewed with Chamberlain and they are too expensive, $8000 a semester is just ridiculous and impossible for me, and I need to take a few more courses for them, which I'm not doing because I'm spent with courses already.

Im actually a nurse already and just recently moved to arizona. Im a current instructor and the most important thing to look into is that the state boards of nursing and education of that particular state approves that school.

Im getting out of education and im getting into starting a consulting business.

Hi again JessieBoopCNA, yes Chamberlain is too expensive. I thought about going there too, but I'm unsure. I am applying to the lpn program at wright. If I don't get in, I am going to apply to west suburban which is now resurrection university for fall 2011 BSN program. I can't apply to the adn programs at the city colleges because I got a C in chem 100/121. U need a B, so I have to take chem 201. I wanted to take it this semester, but I just got a job with one of the advocate hopsitals as a pca :yeah:. It sucks becasue I could have made the application deadline feb 2011 for the adn programs, but heck I needed a job.

Good thing is the hosptial will pay for me to go back to school. They pay for adn/bsn/msn programs as well.
