Initial IL license time frame

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I applied for IL in October for $91. Took my NCLEX and passed. Received a letter from IDFPR saying I need to pay $50 more for a license application! Totalling $140 for my initial IL license. Is this right?! Or a fluke b/c I live in IN? I tried calling IDFPR but constant busy signal. (any suggestions on how to get through as well?)

How long do people typically have to wait til they receive their actual license? I'm thinking of endorsing to another state but need the license # first. Please help if anyone can! Thank you so much.

I'm also having a hard time reaching them as well. The number that they have written on the page is always busy regardless of the time and day. I have a MO license and I'm applying for IL.

I was told that they are a little slow on the process. I also need help.. I did a bridge program. LPN-RN, RN-BSN. Can somebody help me if I need to fill out 2 different forms for the education verification? I sent one to the school where I received my bachelors. Should I also send one to where I recevied my associates?

Thank you all for your help in advance.

It was last summer for me, but if I remember correctly, the $91 is basically just for them to approve you to proceed to register for NCLEX. They get paid just for shuffling your paperwork from school that shows you graduated from an accredited program, valid background checks, fingerprinting etc. Then once you've passed NCLEX, you pay the fee for the license.

And from what I've heard from others, getting a response from them takes f o r e v e r. . .

Congrats!

Oh, & getting the license itself usually only takes about 7-10 days once the $50 fee is paid.

That's good to know as I'm also applying for an initial license as RN in IL. Mine totals to $643 in costs because of all the foreign requirements (CGFNS CES, License Verification, etc). :( Good to know that there's ANOTHER $50 to be given a license! Gah! :banghead: I really would hate any surprise fees given the cost!

I also plan to endorse to IN after since I live in North Indiana. I compared the cost of getting a license in IN initially and it amounts to $796. Got no choice! I have to be licensed!

How did you do the fingerprinting requirement, by the way?

Hi there! I live at the Philippines, took my license exam last August, received a letter 2 weeks after from CTS regarding the final result and the $50 check, I did sent the check the next day, my name and license number showed up in the website 2 weeks after sending the check. It has been there for 3 months but until now I still haven't got any license card or paper from IDFPR.. I tried calling their hotline tons of times but they always say that they are experiencing high volume of calls.

Are there anyone here from the Philippines or any country that has the same case like mine, waiting for the license to come for almost 3 months now?

Can somebody help me or enlighten me with my case now? :) Thank you

It might be because of the mail service they used. I got mine a week after appearing online. I'm in the US though.

Have you tried contacting them?

I'm assuming they gave you a license number online. Did you submit an SS number? Some states require an SS number before issuing the license.

I did already have a license number online.. I don't have an SS number does IL require a SS number before they issue a license card to me?

Hi, Mariel.

True. They can be difficult to get hold of.

If you're applying for a job, the employers really just need the license number because they can check and verify your records online anyway.

I found this online. You might want to read it:

Try sending them an email instead.

Good luck!

Good for you, you know your licence number already. I took my NCLEX in Jan 2013 and passed. Paid the US$50 asap in Feb but until now, I have not received my licence yet, and worse, it didn't showed up in the website. I also don't know what to do.. Very difficult to reach them.

Hi ArtisticNurse,

http://www.idfpr.com/Renewals/apply/FORMS/CGFNS_02.pdf

According to link below, SSN is not required upon application, however, it will be required during renewal. Is my understanding correct? Because until now, even after I paid the $50 for licence application in Feb, my licence number is not even shown in the IDFPR website. I'm a bit worried already and yet it is very difficult to reach them. I'm currently in Singapore.
