U.S.A. Illinois

Does anyone know exactly how long it takes to get endorsed in IL? I know it takes a while and I can never get through to get an exact answer so I was wondering if anyone in here knew. A classmate of mine was told two weeks from the time they get it to get out a temp. license..is that accurate?

I hate to rain on your classmate's parade, but I doubt if IDFPR will have even opened her envelope by the second week. They are notoriously slow in processing out-of-state requests.

I would count on 2 months. Anything less than that is a plus.

Good luck!

Jolie is right - two months at the least. Took me about 12 weeks because i had been licensed in several other states. Good luck. Two weeks is a pipe dream!

I actually got it in a week. The recruiter for the hospital I was hired at knew someone down there and made a call and the contact pulled and licensed me. I realize this had everything to do w/who I knew. Also, My friend received hers in 3 weeks. So I think it could vary depending on the time of the year and how much they have going on

What does being endorsed mean? I am looking to move to IL, I have an IN license. DO they have you take the NCLEX again or another test?

No. Once you take the NCLEX you should never have to take it again. You have to fill out an application for IL and assuming you have met all the criteria you will be recognized in IL as a registered nurse with a valid license

i was wondering how long does it take to receive the IL temporary license?

What exactly is the criteria to mee? I check the the ILDPR website regularly, but I'm not sure what the "criteria" is. Is it as long as you graduate from an NLNAC accreditated (SP?) program and pass the NCLEX? Or is it more to it? I'm from Illinois but I'm going to school in Il and I want to have my initial license in IL. Any help is appreciated!

well i got my IL state license after 6 weeks of turning in my application by endorsement ....well it is easy to apply for any us state license. you just need to download the application by examination form and mail the form to IL state board of nursing with your nursing school transcript. Then wait for your ATT, which will allow to pick a date to test via pearson website.i hope this information is usefull. Anyway, wishing you the very best:nuke:
