Accepted into CCC Nursing Program: Truman College

U.S.A. Illinois

Hi all! I've started this thread for those of us who have gotten the good news and have been accepted to start the nursing program at Truman College in Fall 2012!

If you are still waiting to hear, I would suggest visiting the other thread I started for some helpful information, tips, and support!

Here's what I know so far:

  • There WILL be clinicals in the first semester (6 hours)
  • The classes will be scheduled via a lottery system
  • We should be receiving a letter from Dr. Gurney in the near future that details what our next steps should be!

Please add to this thread if you have any more information or just want to say hi!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and having classes together shortly!

Despite not getting all information sooner I am very excited to begin!!!

Books???

You need to email the lab skills teacher in order to change the class schedule. I did that and I got an email back stating that they will try to accomodate my schedule...I was told that I will get a confirmation next week...

Thank you Lungu2007. I have emailed one of the instructors last Friday, but I will email both instructors this time to be sure.

Do you think our professor would know what books we are using? At least to cover us for the first few weeks. I can't believe they don't have it finalized yet!

Although the book list has not been finalized. All the books required for 1st year students are available at becks near truman.

Hi everyone! Just got back from orientation! I just wanted to update everyone on what I learned about the Skills Lab. There WILL be skills lab the first week. I spoke with one of the Truman people afterwards and she confirmed. A couple people were told there wouldn't be so I wanted to update!

How do u look up professors email address? We should all email our professors to see what books and materials they recommend.

Thanks for confirming that Katja508 (we spoke outside today!)

Hi xmoomoox, in regards to books: craven is the main one for our first semester. Otherwise we will be notified during our first week about other important books. I tried contacting one of the profs at truman, one that teaches 6pm classes, and she said to review first few chapters of craven before first class. She would not elaborate on other books. Hope this helps.

Anyone going on the next 3 days? I don't understand the need to set up "orientation" on how to take notes and test taking strategies. I am pretty sure everyone has their way that works perfectly fine for them. Why the need to change?

I am asking this by a long shot, but does anyone want to switch clinicals from St. Francis' to St. Joseph's? I currently have 1:30-7:30PM on Saturdays at St. Joseph's. I'm looking for a Saturday clinical at St. Francis. Please email me at

[email protected]

I received an okay to switch hospital clinicals.
