Pay cut!

The agency I work for has cut the nurses and administrative pay 15% starting in January! Gack!

Is this happening elsewhere too?

Specializes in 10.

I'm sorry. That's terrible.

We haven't had pay cuts yet, but we have had layoffs. Last month, a nurse manager and secretary lost their jobs. It's scary. 15% is a huge amount! Sorry to hear that!

Yeah I just started here a month ago and have 4 years HH experience and feel like they did the ole' bait-n-switch on me. Sucky.

Several years ago the agency I worked for cut salaries by 5% based upon cuts in reimbursement from the government. Of course, everyone was upset. One employee encountered a program rep, talked about what had happened, and wouldn't you know, the rep got involved. The manager had to restore the wages when it got out that the cuts in reimbursement rates had been cancelled. Personal lack of integrity not to restore the cuts until the issue became a forced one.

i got a four dollar an hour paycut....the company said they could not pay people to not take benefits any longer. allegedly the company was supposed to contribute up to 500 bucks for the extras like medical, dental. vision. they pay 32 for mine and i pay the rest which is like 100 bucks a paycheck. nice huh? after everyone got this paycut they promoted a few of the higher ups. ugh

Our agency just decided to "re-adjust" rates to come in line with the rest of the company. Mind you all of the readjusted rates were a decrease. Significant changes in reimbursement on varous oasis visits (even though they take the longest). Guess we were just overpaid all this time. Makes me wonder about the health of the company if lowly field staff are taking a pay cut.

I'm already getting CNA pay for licensed nurse work. I have seriously considered working as a CNA instead, but don't want to take even more of a cut in pay, you know, close to minimum wage, instead of a decent CNA wage. Too bad one of us can't win the powerball lottery and divvy out the winnings to a certain number of health care workers, so then we would be independently wealthy. Tell the employers what to do with their insulting pay decreases. Ahh, wishful thinking.

That's bull! Does anyone know how much an agency gets paid per opening?
