No it is not just your agency. Is basically happens for several reasons. One being the right hand might not know what the left hand is doing, Two someone doing the scheduling does not understand the system being used, three lack of communication. I have seen alot of agencies do this.

Lack of organization and miscommunication happens frequently in home health agencies. How much it affects you or your patients negatively depends on what is happening, how often, why, and if there is any ongoing effort to improve the situation. I would caution you to insure that you are keeping a record of your assigned visits (it can be as informal as notes in a day planner) so that you are not somehow blamed for missed visits. We have been advised to keep track of our schedules in calendars for pay purposes, but it also is a good idea to insure no one accuses you of no call, no show. Staffing coordinators have been known to get their information mixed up for various reasons. That's why a lot of clients use this as an excuse to deal directly with their caregivers before or instead of dealing with the agency. And they, for the most part, could care less whether or not guidelines are being followed. I've had clients tell me this.

Ok. I am a little frustrated. It seems that there is an awful lot of chaos at my hhca. Lots of missed visits due to inaccurate frequencies, communication, etc. I really love my job, but every few months or so I get a stack of "missed visits" to fill out and usually I never even knew about the visits, weren't on my schedule or I had been told a different frequency. Uggghhh-just venting~!
