How would you describe it?

I need your help.

I've been asked to work on the second edition of "No Time to Teach?" I would like to add creative ways to explain complex medical stuff to lay learners. I'm sure every person reading this has at least one method they found works.

For example, when describing to a learner how the percussion and vibration of CPT (chest physiotherapy) works, I say it's like shaking Jell-o out of the mold.

Got it?

Please send me your personal favorite, with your name (with credentials) and job title. If I use your contribution, you'll be listed in the acknowledgments.

Thanks!

Is this about Home Health procedures only? Where do you want us to send info, you have your e-mail option turned off. Through the PM system? I have some explanationsfor cardiac things like IABP, etc, do you want that kind of thing as well??

Default How would you describe it?
I'm looking for explanations for the full range of nursing, including home health and long term care, as well as inpatient.

I don't know how to turn my e-mail option on, but for those who want to reply, I'm at flondon@phxchildrens.com

FRan:

Go to user cp box next to allnurses logo at top of page. Click on it and you can edit all sorts of info under your user name.

Will have to give this some thought. See Hoolahans website for description of Home Health Nursing. Very down to earth.

With my music background, I do Chest percussion to the tune of "Tea for Two". Just the right length for whole song to play in my head or badly sing with my patients. LOL.

Thought I was the only one...I use "You Are My Sunshine". Work with an almost 3yo w/ SMA who recites it back:"hey there Annie...who is my sunshine?"..."I am your sunshine, your only sunshine, I make you happy when skys are gray"
LOL I love kids!
