How long did it take for them to find you a client?

I have been employed by a Home Health Agency as a Home Health aide. Its been 15 days since my orientation day and I have only worked once as a substitute, which was just a few hours.

My classmates, who are at the same company as me, have been given many more clients and have regular schedules. What should I do? Is it me or are there just no clients?

I have called, but they tell me that they only have one clients, but it's like 40 miles away fro my house.

Any ideas? What was your experience like? How long did it take for you to get a steady schedule?

Sounds like private duty, not home health. To get your foot in the door you will need to drive 40 miles. At first, you will get the worst cases because they are typically the only ones available. After that, you will work on finding a patient that is a good match for you and you may get let go many times before you find the right patient.

Take the 40 miles away case but with the clear understanding that you continue to be first in line for something nearer. Call them at least on a weekly basis to insure they don't forget about you and give the new work to new hires. Meanwhile, visit the other agencies, sign on, and see who offers you something better first. Good luck.
