Hello,
I am an LVN working at a new home health agency as a intake nurse. An RN opened a case on 6/18 and patient was admitted to the ER same day at approx 8:30pm and was sent back home at approx 3:00am. Is a OASIS transfer required only?
Thanks!

No OASIS Transfer is required since patient was not admitted to the hospital for 24 hours or more.

no OASIS transfer required, however since it was during the five days the admitting nurse may go back and performa new assessment to capture any changes and change the OASIS as corresponda, changing the date of the assessment of course, because maybe new diagnosis are there that were not captured on the first day. On the ther hand the OASIS could be done based on the initial visit and the nurse could go back to assess any new needs the patient may have, you can go to decisionline website they have an OASIS forum where you can get answers for this and any other questions you may have.
