Is this something to wary of?? maybe they cant keep people?? lol

Any thoughts, Im still deciding which direction to go in

Is the car to be yours.. titled to you, or is the vehicle a brand new AGENCY car to be yours to drive as long as you're employed with them?

Interesting.. not heard of "bonuses" with HH agencies.. this would be a first. Does make one a bit leery, though.. :uhoh21:

oh im sure its while you are employed with them but still... nice perk, but it does make you wonder. Do you guys work like sixty hrs a week or something?? what is the catch here?

I would be leery as all get out but I would also take them up on the offer. I had a car die on me from home health and then I couldn't work at all. I had no means to buy a new car. Something like this would have forged one big amount of loyalty with me, at least for the short term. Once working for them, would have to check out the total package. Hopefully it is not just one big trap. Good luck.

I have heard of driving agency cars while employed with them. Which this is nice not to put the mileage and wear and tear on your personal car. That must be what they are talking about.

The agency I work for gives us a 3600 dollar a year car allowance instead of mileage. If I had to drive an extensive amount it wouldn't be good but since I am in the office half the time and most of the patients are within a 25 mile radius it isn't bad.

Ask about the turnover there. The agency I am at for about 4 months now has had eight turnovers since I have been here!

If that's the case, that' would be ideal. :)

Some agencies find it more cost effective to lease a fleet of cars for their home care staff than pay mileage. It's not common, but not unheard of either.

I was told that if I used one of their cars I would receive a form at the end of the year which would amount to extra income that I would have to claim on my taxes due to use of the car. It's not really a free bonus. Best to ask a tax professional.

I have been in home care 20 years, I remember 20 years ago cars were given to the nurses as agency cars, you used the car as long as you were working for them. I would look into the particulars of that offer. Home care (as well as every other area of nursing) is so desperate for nurses that I guess there will be many great offers and bonuses offered over the next few years. For a new nurse coming into home care for the first time, I give that nurse alot of credit, there is alot to learn, alot of paperwork, and the day does NOT stop when you leave your last patients home. Good luck.
