Q for nurses who get paid per visit/admission
I would hate to think that you are being taken advantage of. We get $80. for an admission visit. I have done those off the wall distances, and I make it very clear that I am not following this case, not discharging this patient at the end of the case, and expect to be compensated with a predetermined rate BEFORE I go and do the admission. It is always amazing to me how rates can be adjusted if they really want the case opened. Your time is valuable, and so is your expertise, you dont have to give it away. Take care.

Does HH keep patients indefinitely?
Under medicare and medicaid, the foley change every month can go on indefinately. It just has to be medically necessary, patient under doctors care, and patient be homebound (meaning it is physically taxing for the patient to leave the home) usually needs assist of some type. I make it a practise to call and schedule an appointment in advance, just showing up is not very professional. Take care.

A New Car
I have been in home care 20 years, I remember 20 years ago cars were given to the nurses as agency cars, you used the car as long as you were working for them. I would look into the particulars of that offer. Home care (as well as every other area of nursing) is so desperate for nurses that I guess there will be many great offers and bonuses offered over the next few years. For a new nurse coming into home care for the first time, I give that nurse alot of credit, there is alot to learn, alot of paperwork, and the day does NOT stop when you leave your last patients home. Good luck.
