Nursing Students HESI

I am horrible at math and I need to take the HESI. What kind of math questions are there? I can subtract, multiply, and divide lol that's about it! I took college algebra 11 years ago. Please help!

This book has everything you need to know for the math portion. Basic addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, ratios. It really does help. I made a C in College algebra but got a 96% on the math portion of the test thanks to this book.

Definitely get the book. It will help a lot. Go through all the practice problems in the book. You can use a calculator on screen during the test so use a calculator when doing the practice problems. I just took it today and got 100 on the math section.

Im having a similar problem.. Ive been reading a lot that there are a bunch of "ratio" questions.. Can someone explain to me what that would consist of? I know how to solve a proportion, but what is a ratio question? Is it just like changing a decimal or fraction into ratio form?

A ratio is a comparison used to figure drug doses. An example would be one tablet =325 mg. The md orders 650 mg. That ratio would be x tablet = 650 mg. You would then put the two ratios together to solve for x.

325 mg : 1 tablet = 650 mg : x tablet

Multiply outer and inner and you get

325 mg x tablet= 650 mg

Divide both sides by 325 mg tablet so that x stands alone and you get

X = 2 tablets

Thanks but I thought that process would be solving a proportion?

Okay I think ive got it now. A proportion is just making two ratios equal to each other. #duh lol Thank You!

Just an FYI. I knew i was right. That is a Proportion question. The ratio questions were more like 7 of 8 students are girls. How many of the (random number) of students are girls.
