Hey FutureNursey,

At our visn our open seasons had been closed for 9 months and then they terminated the program temporarily. This has been the first open season in almost a year for us. With the termination, they explained to us they were so backed up on a national level that this applied to all VAs. So as far as I know this is the first open season in some time. I hope this speeds things up. Everything is crossed for sure lol! The VA way for sure, hurry up and wait!

Thanks for your input on this situation. I will keep you posted! and if anyone else has any info i'd appreciate it.

Hey CS1827,
I would love to know what type of magical stardust you have that you are hiding from the rest of us. LOL! I think I have come to realize that sending your application in early probably gets it a starring role at the bottom of a pile somewhere. I must say the wait was well worth it. Congratulations and good luck to everyone as you embark on your academics and careers in nursing.

Skeleton Re: Vaneep
I'm also from VISN 10 and my application was submitted 7/10 with me starting school on 8/24. My application was initially rejected due to issues with transcripts for my transfer credits. Luckily I was able to work with my education dept & submit additional documentation and I received my acceptance 8/21. Having experienced both the lows and highs the only advice I'd give anyone applying for vaneep is make sure you have all of your paperwork completed and then stay on your education dept to get their side done -- and don't accept a rejection until you're sure there's nothing else that can be done.

Heard a rumor here at VISN 23 that Vaneep funding program is going to be to be ending.Have not heard from my education coordinator if this is true. Or if it affects the contract I have signed and start 8/25/2009.I am very thankful to finally be moving forward with my nursing career!

I am in VISN 6. I completed my BSN in May 09 and passed boards first time with 75 questions. I think it is a great program. Just make sure that you stay on top of your education department. I did have to go and turn in grades as well as make sure the payments to the University were made on time. It is a good program. Do not be dissapointed after graduation that you are considered a new grad despite any experience. (LPN for 9 years). Congrats on all who get this opportunity.
