VA Hiring Process

From the previous posts I've read the VA hiring process is pretty long and drawn out. I've applied to two different VA sites. The VA an hour away from my home I can always get in contact with a nurse recruiter and my application status for two posting says "referred to selecting official." The VA closest to my home, I can't get through to the recruiter, she emailed me back once and the status of all the apps just says "application received." I do know a nurse practitioner that works at this VA site and she tried to give my resume to the recruiter, but I had to apply online.

For those of you that are familiar with the hiring process, any idea what the next step is. In all there are around 20 RN vacancies. The two systems have two completely different online application submissions, how will I know if I've completed the application process correctly, its a little confusing :(

I've been applying since I've graduated and earlier this year I found out that I was applying the wrong way so those positions don't count. These positions closed in September.

Thanks in advance ?

So the board met today to discuss me n my hr rep emailed me to get more info on the 306 form question 13. Which I disclosed I am in chapter 13 bankruptcy. They wanted to know what amount I owe and what my monthy payments are. I hope this doesn't keep me from getting hired. Any feed back?

Not sure. Defaulting on Federal loans, student loans can/does lead to revoking a nursing license, so maybe they would be concerned that you would be in the same boat? And they cannot use you if you're at risk for losing a license.....I don't know, I'm just guessing here. Why not ask HR?

It wasn't default on loans just house taxes actually.

If it's unpaid Federal taxes, might be an issue. If that's not it, then I'm not sure why they are asking. It's worth running by your recruiter anyway, maybe he or she will know for certain?

I emailed them and he said typically it will not stop me from getting hired. Just admit debt and show a plan to pay back debt. Which is what I've provided. Everything went to the board yesterday so hopefully deliberation won't take to long.

So the board met about me on Monday. But in the mean time it has been a long process all together. Applied to a prison job cause I need to keep things moving. Does it take long to hear back after the board meet usually?

On 04/10 I got my official job offer from VA Palo Alto, along with the salary. It doesn't state that I need to reply, so should I just show up to orientation or give them a courtesy call that I accept?

Specializes in EMT, ER, Homehealth, OR.

I would call to just to cover your self that you are accepting the position just in case they forgot to put down that you needed to reply; which of course would be your fault not theirs since its the VA way.

Hello, all. So I recieved two letters, one from transunion and the other from experian stating "your bank ground credit has been released to a federal employee" they said it was released the 11th of this month. However last week ( before the 11th) I talked with h.r and they said they completed background check already, they also said they submitted file to board because I was considered suitable for hire. I'm just confused since I spoke with him before the 11th and credit bureaus said va contacted them after 11th. Has anyone else received these letters from credit burial regarding va requesting information?

Not bank information lol typo

This question is just so I can put in the back of mind and retrieve it some day. I am working in VISN 18 and some day may won't to go back to DFW to be closer to parents. I know since I will have to be hired. Do I have to re-board? Does my current Nurse level- step transfer? How does it all work?

I found the answer, yes you transfer with you current grade and step.
