What are the general chances of being called up from reserve in the Navy as a perioperative nurse? It shows they are in great need for them. Does that increase the chances? Thank you.

Not sure what you mean by "called up"? Do you mean for deployment? If you are a Reservist you will be doing monthly activities with your unit anyway, and Reserve units do deploy themselves as well. When I was deployed with the Army, we had a couple of Reserve team members on our Forward Surgical Team (FST) for a while — one of the CRNAs was a Reservist, and so was one of our ortho surgeons.

I realize that's Army and you're asking about Navy, but I think it's safe to say in general, don't join the military in any capacity during times of conflict unless you're willing to be away from home for a bit! But deployments have slowed down immensely, though they are still happening. A friend of mine who is an OR nurse (Army) deployed very recently.

Hopefully someone with Navy experience can chime in about operations tempo while maintaining OPSEC! :D
