Which job would you take (knowing you're applying for USAF NC periop in the future):

1. Ambulatory surgery center, working pre-op, OR and recovery for level 2 care, 4 ORs, all GI procedures & no general anesthesia.

2. Mid-size hospital (no trauma) surgical services pre-op and recovery with potential to cross-train in OR (since I show an interest & want CNOR in future). Includes general anesthesia, they do it all including open heart, ortho, GI, etc.

I want #2, but potential to cross-train and it actually happening are 2 different things, obviously. And #1 limits my experience to only GI and while it counts as OR experience, I'm thinking #2 will make me a better candidate.

Am I overthinking this? LOL :)

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

I would go with #2 and be persistent about the cross-training! Good luck!!

Specializes in ER, ICU.

#2 by far, good luck

Ok thanks for the feedback!!
