I have heard of all the stories that in OCS and bootcamp they cut off all the females hair, no body spray or even hint of perfume lotion, double bras, etc.

I read what is on ODS website about grooming and the standards but I wanted to know from people who have went to either so us newbies can be prepared.

1. Do they cut off your hair at ODS/OBLC? (females)

2. Do you have to have the all white undergarments such as white granny panties, white sports bras, etc. Is color panties okay or even thongs?

3. Bathing suit what kind and can you bring a swim cap since not much time for washing hair?

4. Hygiene products: any thing you want to bring no bath and body?

5. I even heard some people put there chapsticks, lotions etc in there cars then get them out later, however what if you aren't driving?

Any other female things we need to consider.

Thanks for your advice!

Great questions! I'm especially curious about body sprays/lotions/body wash. I'm addicted to Bath and Body Works.

Although I haven't been to ODS yet, I can answer that you will need to bring a one piece conservative swimsuit, according to ODS' website. It needs to be black or navy blue. The one-piece classic fit Speedo swimsuit (approx $50-60) is the swimsuit that is standard issue for enlisted females. Goggles are not allowed, but I'm not sure about swim caps - my guess is not allowed.

Noooooo,

Just back from OBLC, they do not ask you to cut your hair.....if it touchs the bottom of your collar, you are expected to wear it "up", according to regs.
