FNP and National Guard

I am wondering about FNPs and the National Guard.

I am an FNP student (graduate Dec 09). I am thinking about the National Guard. I am prior service (US Army). So my questions are does the ARNG use FNPs? What about deployment? Is it a straight ticket to the Middle East? Also, what is the ARNG policy if you want to move to a new state?

I will appreciate any insight.

Good question. I am now waiting on some information also. The site here in GA says they do but how has not been answered yet

20K yearly bonus for NPs (makes me wonder what the regular pay is)

I just found out this week about the 20K and a friend of mine who is a commander (dental) is trying to get me some more info. When I find out something I will pass it along.

Also with NG and AR units.. you really need to look at what types of units are in your vicinity - some units aren't even designed to deploy - this is good/bad depending on what you are looking for. I would take a look at the units in your area and then start making decisions based on how far you are willing to travel and what role you want to have within what is actually available.

If I were single, it wouldn't be as big an issue, but my wife would kill me if I were deployed overseas leaving her to work/raise a two year old. What I am primarily interested in is Katrina type deployments. Local/national distaster type stuff. Throw in some military bennies (loan repayment ) and I'm good. Plus, part of me misses the military. I am still in good shape, and it would be something different.
