Any Nurses Stationed at BAMC

I am looking for some advice on where to live in San Antonio. I will be stationed at BAMC after OBLC. I have looked at a few houses in the Cibolo area. Do those of you who live there or have lived there think this is a nice area? Do you think the drive would be too far? Any other advice about living there?

Thanks

Cibolo is a nice area, but it's kind of far out. I would recommend Alamo Heights. Kind of expensive, but the houses have lots of character. There are lots of local (non-chain) restaurants within a short drive. There are many mature trees (unlike most San Antonio housing developments), and it's close to BAMC. I know folks who ride bikes to work from Alamo Heights. Plus, the school district is the best in the city (from what I'm told).

I live on the west side of SA b/c I work at Wilford Hall, but when our hospital merges I may move to Alamo Heights.

Good Luck.

North East San Antonio has my vote.

I live Northeast.....not too bad, 25 mins commute (which is fine with me!).

Houses are more abundant, the further out you go.....so not too many in Alamo heights, but more outside of 1604 loop......really, its not that bad of a commute, compared with other cities.

I mean there is housing w/in bike riding, but it depends on what you want. I don't want to see the base everytime I get in my car.......I need distance!!!!!

Can you log onto http://ahrn.com ?

ALOT of people/companies post on this, I found 500 listings in my BAH range, when I was looking last year........And I will use it again next year when I move.....

good luck,

I am about to wrap up my pre-reqs for the nursing program which I will do 2010. I live very near BAMC in Kirby, Texas. It is an older community but the homes are pretty well maintained. The nursing program I am going into is on IH35 and Oconnor which is also very close to my neighborhood.

Northside is the way to go, lots to do and short commute as long as you have to be there early, fairly no traffic!
