Hey Guys-

Does anyone know what the Air Force requirements are on Advanced nurses joining active Duty Air Force? Years experience? GPA?

What sort of "advanced nurses" do you mean? If you mean nurse practitioner, the standard in the military has become DNP.

I still hear of MSNs becoming NPs in the Air Force. It's more rare these days, but it still exists. A great many of them were in my COT class. The AF website is outdated. You're going to have to contact a healthcare recruiter to get the latest info.

Thanks for the info!! It was a question in regards to DNP/MSN advanced nurses in general (Psych, Women's health, FNP, etc..). I am not fortunate enough to have an outstanding GPA (3.2) and was thinking of other avenues to commission in AF Nurse corp. Do you know if GPA >3.5 also applies to FQ nurses (BSN/MSN/DNP)?

I have attempted to reach out to healthcare recruiter with no response.

Thanks again!

Don't give up. It took me 18 months to get in. Luckily I was in the process of getting the health professions scholarship during that wait time. In regards to experience they want a new grad NP who has some RN experience. However, you can argue that PAs come out after two years of their masters program with no prior healthcare experience. I've seen some NPs who came into the Air Force with no prior experience at all. As long as you're healthy and can pass the PT tests, you should be good in the military side of things. As for the degree, they're slowly phasing out the MSN requirement and now require the DNP. Those already in the Usaf as a NP will be grandfathered in.
