Air Force requirements Advanced Nurses
Thanks for the info!! It was a question in regards to DNP/MSN advanced nurses in general (Psych, Women's health, FNP, etc..). I am not fortunate enough to have an outstanding GPA (3.2) and was thinking of other avenues to commission in AF Nurse corp. Do you know if GPA >3.5 also applies to FQ nurses (BSN/MSN/DNP)? I have attempted to reach out to healthcare recruiter with no response. Thanks again!

Air Force Reserve or Guard- NTP?
Thanks for the info, I really appreciate your two cents. Is that 180hrs per year? Wonder if volunteer work would count? I realize my situation is odd!!! Who in their right mind would want two careers? What area do you specialize in? Marty

Air Force Reserve or Guard- NTP?
Hello- I am contemplating a several different avenues for Air Force service. I really think either the Reserves or the Guard would work out best for me, but I have a dilemma. I work full-time in another career field, other than Nursing. I would like to keep my current career and yet still have a separate career in the Air Force, part-time. Does the Guard or Reserves have a stipulation on maintaining a fulltime job in nursing? I understand you must have certain number of hours to maintain your license, which the drill weekend and 2 weeks a year would fulfill. Also, are you required to have experience for the Reserves or Guard? I see mostly flight nursing and critical care jobs for Reserves and suspect they require experience. Thanks for the help. Marty

Active Duty Air Force 1st Assignment
Thanks for your reply Cathy. Thats awesome you got your first choice. Wilford Hall? Thats a big hospital..well as far as the military is concerned anyway! Did you know when you were going through Nursing school that you wanted to join the Air Force? When did you find out what your assignment would be? Did they also allow you to pick the NTP location or was that just chosen because it was closer to your first duty assignment? Did you go in OB or Med/Surg? What are you plans for the future? Marty

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Air Force
Happy New Year! Does anyone have any experience working as a PMHNP in the Air Force? I have searched the Internet for base locations for this career field and could not find much. I assume the Air Force is in need of this specially considering they are offering Scholarships in this field. Does anyone have any information on this? I am prior service, active duty. I am in my last year of my ASN and looking to transfer to Vanderbilt's RN-MSN program. I may be interested in the scholarship program that the Air Force offers, but would like to know more about duty assignments. Anyone pursuing the same track? Appreciate the guidance. I love the forum! Marty
