Active Duty Navy Direct Accession FY 2017

Greetings! I am a RN with about 1 years medsurg experience looking to apply for FY 2017 to the Navy for direct accession. Anyone else out there working on their packet or that have already submitted it? Please feel free share your experiences thus far, desired duty stations and any valuable info. Thanks!

I am still waiting. I have finished everything. My results could come in any day. I just wish I had some idea of when the waiting will be over! I know that is not realistic though. :)

I don't know if my recruiter was specifically talking about medsurg or not, but he indicated that the first nursing board doesn't meet until late November.

Hmm it would be nice to know exactly how all of this works. Mine is still saying we should hopefully hear back from the board before the end of November. I'm not counting on it though. But I am hoping.

I found out from mine that my packet hasn't actually been submitted, but I'm pretty sure that I've completed everything. He doesn't seem to be in a big hurry.

How long was your credentialing process?

My credentialing took about a month once it was finally submitted. The longest process was them getting ahold of all of my references.

SBSN, I am not trying to ignore your PM. I haven't posted enough to be able to PM yet. Getting references sorted out was a long process for me and it did take the credentialing office a lot of time to contact them all. They were misspelling email addresses and such. But they eventually reached out to me to help facilitate it, which helped get it done finally. Through email and/or phone they did contact each one to verify the references.

No worries, occasionally I panic that I post too much on this website. Then I look back at old posts and if you know it's me there is no way to hide it. Haha.

Thanks for the info! Im hoping all my stuff is done by the end of the year but that's wishful thinking. A commission for Christmas would be nice.

Also, I just spoke to my recruiter. They checked yesterday and my package is definitely with the board currently. (Submitted mid-late October) No word yet. But she confirmed that there were 4 active duty ED/Trauma spots, so she thinks I have a good chance. She said for this specialty it isn't one that goes to the board once or twice a year. The board meets until the spots are filled.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for a similar situation. I just feel I'm so far behind. My stuff just went to credentialing last week/this week.

I think you should have a similar situation. I know how you feel though. All of this waiting is starting to feel like torture. But we are so close :)

Yes! I'm prior service, so sit and wait is nothing new to me. As fast as I want things to move, I pray I get picked up and then have enough time to tell my job that I am leaving without leaving in the middle of a scheduled period.
