Will hospitals look down upon my LTC experience?

I'm a fairly new nurse. Been working in a nursing home for almost two years. I've always heard that hospitals will not hire me if I stay too long. I'd like to work in pediatrics someday and I'm just wondering how long is too long to stay in this area?

That's baloney. I worked ltc for six months, quit because I was too overloaded and it was unsafe, and quickly got a job in postpartum.

There will be some people that tell you it works against them and others that say it doesn't. I think so much of the job market success in nursing is just the right opportunity coming along at the right time. Good luck with your search and future career.

It depends on the facility, but for the most part, yes. There are some hospitals now in more competitive markets that brazenly say in their ads "No nursing home RN" There are too many bad LTC facilities out there that give everyone a bad name.
