Why do most of the SNF/ LTC facilities not put their classified Ads on the internet?

It looks like there are many SNFs in my neighborhood and I want to work at one of them. But…Most of the major job search sites on the internet such as CareerBuilder, Indeed, or Craigslist put classified Ads from places such as home health agencies, clinics, and hospices, but I really don’t see much from SNFs. I want to apply for SNFs but if they don’t put their Ads, how can I tell if they are hiring or not. I once visited one of the SNFs in my area to ask if I could fill out a job application, but the receptionist gave me a cold reception and said they didn’t have one, so from then on I have never gone to any SNFs to ask them to just fill out an application without any appointment. But, do you still just take a chance and go to SNFs to ask them if you can fill out an application? Or is there any special job search sites for SNFs?

Can't say I agree with this. Have noticed many LTC jobs posted on Internet sites.

Why pay for advertising if you don't have to? We fill our jobs through walk in apps (a very small percentage) and word of mouth. There is no need to waste time or money on advertising. When we need someone we ask the staff if they know a good nurse. I was hired when I put on my interview suit and filled out the long form application at every SNF within driving distance one day. Six weeks later they called for an interview and thankfully I got the job. Look up nursing homes in your area and apply! Today they may have all positions filled but who knows what will happen by tomorrow afternoon. If there is nothing good through word of mouth my facility looks through the apps on file before even considering placing an ad. You could be ahead of the game if you put your resume in now. No facility ever says no they aren't hiring nurses. They say come in and fill out an app.
