    Well i am a CNA in long term care. I absolutely love the nursing home setting. Its a completely different universe than hospital nursing, and really like a seperate profession in my opinion. I love the home like feeling and enviroment. I love the Activities that are always going on, I like that its not always medical this, medical that, and thats its kind of a more relaxed and laid back setting. I love spending holidays such as halloween and christmas time with what i consider to be my 2nd family and 2nd home! I know some nurses and CNAs absolutely hate NURSING HOMES!! and it would be a last resort!! And I know some who just cant simply do anything else because they love it so much!! They will leave and do some hospital work and feel cold and come right back, because its just not the same holistic care oriented approach. Any nurses or CNAs feel strongly about the work they do in a nursing home and would never dream of leaving for all the money in the world?!!

    I am an RN who works in a Nursing Home and yes I love it too. I do have my share of frustrations overall but they don't have anything to do with the residents. I have a family member that just obtained her CNA certificate and will be starting in a Nursing Home and I hope she loves it as much as you do. Thank you for your hard work and enthusiasm, it is refreshing to see.

    Care of the elderly is my passion! I worked LTC/skilled for 9 years.... loved the patients and loved what i did but the "do more with less" attitude at the detriment of pt care got to me... just made the change to renal dialysis about 4 months ago and im loving it! Tho i do see myself going back to geriatrics eventually. I am glad there are other nurses that feel the same... our elders deserve great staff!!!

    I also love geriatrics.

    I recently started a new job as a nursing aid supervisor in a senios' lodge which is similar to assisted living. I like that I am on the frontline of ensuring that our seniors get the the care and respect they deserve. The nursing aids I work with are fantastic.
