Default it is all negotiable
When I worked LTC and we had a SDC, I applied for that position. I was told I would make the same $, but my hours were more under my control. At that time I was making $ 17.00 and hour (Fall of last year)... Not great.. but a much nicer job....

I now work as an Agency nurse.... and make double that...

It sounds like your DON is stalling...

I seen a post recently for staff development and the add said the pay was low 20's per hour. This is New Hampshire.

Just FYI in my area the nursing homes have all raised their scales in an attempt to keep the nurses they have. So, the hospital pay range has pretty much become the NH pay range.

If I were you I would go find out what the hospitals are paying their nurses and add a few bucks for the education role and give your DON that rate.
