Anyone use voice recorder for admissions? etc..

I worked 3-11 and getting frequent admissions (I have a total of 28 residents. 7 are Rehab).

I was thinking of recording my voice as I read and find the info I need to transcribe.

Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with all the interruptions etc..that I find myself going back and forth with the paperwork. :(

I think this will save me time. ?

Kinda sounds like where I work except I get 20-24 residents all rehab plus admissions. I've found that if I organize the paperwork I have to fill out and fill out as much as I can before the patient actually arrives, it helps. I also review the list of medications the patient was on in the hospital to see if there are any that will need consents (psychoactive meds) or need to be called in rather than faxed to the pharmacy (controlled substances). Sometimes the medications will change slightly from what they were taking, but generally very little. At our facility, things are written several times, for example, diagnoses are written in four different places. Once I have them written out once, I refer to that rather than the paperwork that comes from the hospital. I've found I've gotten faster, but admissions will always take a lot of time. Luckily, I work with a really good team and we pull together when things get crazy so one person doesn't get stuck with too much work and get overwhelmed. I never thought about recording myself, let me know if you try it and if it helps.
