Pre-Nursing @ GPC

U.S.A. Georgia

Hi,

Just wondering who is applying to GPC for fall 2011 and how everyone is feeling. I just took the Teas V two weeks ago and they put a message on the board that they would contact us in 3weeks and until then not to call them. This wait is KILLING me! I am so nervous. Does anybody know people that have already been accepted into the program or is anybody currently in the program?

Mangopeach, what time were the PLAs held on Mondays? They are every other week, right?

Yeah they are held on Mondays. About every other week. They've just changed the format for doing PLAs. It used to be only 2 sessions. But now PLAs are spread out over the course of the day with smaller groups. So you will sign up for a time that day that you want to go.

Hi ladies. I have a quick question that I'm hoping one of you can help answer. I currently have a 3.4 gpa and made an 84 on the TEAS. I'm really worried because I made a C in A&P. Does anyone know if any student has ever gotten in with a C in A&P? :/

Keep your spirits up 3TimesACharm!! - I scored proficient on the TEAS as well and thought oh man, I messed up. I also had a strong GPA like you do, so that made up for it, so don't give up hope. I'm not sure how GPC does the scoring but I've heard that GPA counts for much more than the TEAS. What I've always heard is GPC pays close attention to your GPA, especially to your A&P I and II grades, and your track record as a student. Meaning that you don't have Ws and you have a strong GPA. The TEAS counts of course but your GPA counts for more. But this is what I've heard, can't say if its true or not, but like I said I also scored proficient on the TEAS, didn't do so well in math, did OK in science and excellent on the other parts.

Good luck to all of you!

Hey Mangopeach, I took the TEAS V lastnight and score 67.3% (proficent):crying2:. I was wondering do you know the lowest score that they will accept at GPC for the program and also do you know what was the lowest teas score accepted in you nursing class?

I dont think I will get in with a TEAS score of 67.3%....Advice needed:redbeathe:redpinkhe

I got in with a 68% (I am a terrible test taker)! I did have a 3.8 GPA with a 4.0 in Sciences. Good luck to you! I just knew I wouldn't get in!

Thank you so much Weston'smom, I'm very scared I will not get in....I see so much ppl on this blog saying " my teas was 88, 87, 90 etc..."

My GPA is 3.70 and my science GPA is 3.0 I think bc I made 2 (B's) in my sciences. I applied for the bridge program, but even though I scored proficent I still feel like I made a terriable score....

Does everyone that takes the TEAS at GPC pass the first try?

Thank you for all your help:redpinkhe I just think I'm in need of alittle encouragment:redpinkhe:crying2:

Hey Keepmoving, I'm not sure what the lowest score was for my class. Did you look at where you ranked against others that took the test? I think thats a bigger factor than the individual score. But there are a bunch of us that were accepted with a proficient score and like I said before, I've always heard that GPC weighs your GPA more than your TEAS score. I've also heard that the types of questions you got right or wrong are also considered.Although the TEAS is not set up like NCLEX questions, I've heard that they do look at how well you answer the questions that take a bit more critical thinking. Again, just what I've heard. Good luck!

The program average was 64.7% I believe.

Hey keepmovinglpn, I hope for your sake you went to another school!! GPC is the worst nursing school out there. All the 2006 reviews are correct. They treat your horrible and you just have to take it. Ask any hospital which nurses seem the most calm and collected. You will hear that the student nurses at gpc are so anxious and nervous and scared for their lives. They are terrified of making just one little mistake for fear they will be failed in clinicals. I have had to put up with a lot, but not compared to some other students. I just can't imagine what they are going through. As for me, I feel like I am in HELL and can't get out and I have no self-esteem left. They've made a few changes but they need to make a whole lot more!!!
