Macon State Nursing Program

U.S.A. Georgia

Hey Ya'll!

Wow! It has been a while since I have been on and it's good to be back. :)

I was wondering who has previously gone through or is going through the Macon State Nursing Program? I am going to be applying to Macon State next year as a Freshman and was wondering what experiences you have had with the nursing program or even with the college in general. I have heard from many that the Nursing Program/ College is difficult, but is a very good college to attend. I would love to hear ya'll's feedback since I am considering attending there in the near future.

Thanks!

I have not attended the nursing program but did go there for respiratory school. I have to tell you, and others will too, that if you can take your science courses somewhere else DO! I had to retake my A&Ps for nursing school because they were older than 5 years and refused to go back to MSC unless it was a last resort. I was able to take both at Georgia Military College and did very well. It is the same material but the class ratio at GMC is better. I also have a fellow that i work with who went through the program at MSC who did not enjoy it because it was disorganized. But to be fair they were going through some staffing changes as well.

Hope this helps.

I am currently in MSC's nursing program. I made it through the first year, now only 1 more year to go (2 semesters). I would say its a difficult program but if you study hard and practice lots and lots and lots of nclex questions you will do well. The teachers are nice and if you are having any concerns you should go to them early. Don't wait until its too late and wonder why you aren't doing well. I suggest going to the office and speaking to an advisor on what classes you need to take and any suggestions they have. Good luck w/ school and nursing in particular :specs:

what should i read over SBT for med surg 1 2nd semester in program

I took Medsurg 1 in spring 2008 but i think the 1st test covered respiratory system and preparing pts for surgery. Your professors will send you a reading list via e-mail though sometime b4 XMas. Good luck. I am in the RN-BSN program @ MSC currently. If I can help you let me know.

thanks so much. that really helped our instructors told us in fundamen to read about trachs iv, venipuncture. so it must be respiratory thanks and good luck on that degree

What they told you is what you will go over in lab and get checked off on (trach care, iv start, iv push, iv piggyback, etc).

All of the MedSurg courses (I, II, II) were great. I personally despised OB & Peds. I actually thought Peds would interest me but I found it did not(but to each his own). I am partial to MedSurg & it was more interesting so I found I did better & learned A LOT More than in OB. Good luck.

what is the first thing to read for med surg 2 and peds
